About KISHOR GURUKAL

Siva Sri N. Kishor Gurukal began his spiritual journey at the young age of 15, driven by a deep calling to serve the divine. His first step into the priesthood was at Arulmigu Sithivinayagar Temple, Bidor, where he volunteered as an assistant gurukal under the guidance of the Chief Priest, Lakshaman Gurukal. His passion for becoming a gurukal was profoundly inspired by a divine experience in which Lord Ganesha appeared in his dream, strengthening his resolve to dedicate his life to spiritual service.

Born in Tapah, Perak, Siva Sri N. Kishor Gurukal completed his SPM in 2002 before pursuing formal priesthood education. In 2003, he traveled to Vedaraniam, Nagapattinam, Tamil Nadu, India, where he commenced his basic priesthood training. He successfully completed this foundational phase in 2004 under the guidance of Chellappa Gurukal.

He then continued his advanced priesthood studies at Sri Karpaga Vinayagar Vedagama Padasalai, Pillayar Patti, Tamil Nadu, where he received comprehensive training under Pichai Gurukal. After completing his full priesthood education, he returned to Malaysia in 2007 as a fully trained and learned priest.

Upon his return, Siva Sri N. Kishor Gurukal began his service as the Chief Priest of Dewi Sri Maha Mariamman Temple, Bandar Sri Damansara, Selangor. He has faithfully held this position for the past 17 years, serving the temple and its devotees with dedication and integrity. During this time, he has conducted numerous major Hindu religious ceremonies, including Kumbabishegam, Chandi Homam, Prithingira Homam, and many other significant spiritual rituals and temple events.

In 2022, he joined Dewi Sri Rajamariamman Temple, located in Sungai Buloh, Selangor, where he currently serves as the Chief Priest, continuing his dedicated service to the Hindu community.

In addition to temple duties, he has extensive experience in conducting over 500 Hindu weddings throughout his career as a chief priest. He has also contributed to the future of the priesthood by educating and guiding students interested in pursuing the priesthood during the years 2009 and 2010.

Siva Sri N. Kishor Gurukal is deeply committed to the spiritual and personal well-being of devotees. He regularly performs homams and pujas for individuals seeking divine guidance and solutions to life’s challenges. He also ensures that the temple environment is well-maintained, clean, and that all Hindu rituals are conducted strictly in accordance with traditional scriptures and practices.

On the personal front, he married Mrs. Venggetamma Divya in 2016, a Malaysian native from Puchong. The couple was blessed with a baby boy, Harswin, in 2022.

It is truly an honour to have Siva Sri N. Kishor Gurukal serving in Malaysia, a well-educated, experienced, and spiritually devoted priest with strong social values and a deep concern for the betterment of the community and future generations
